Nine Ways to Make Your Business Visible

My Fourth Law of Attracting Clients states that you must be visible.

Imagine that you woke up one morning and discovered you were completely invisible. And nobody could hear you either. If you sent an email, nobody would even see it.

Not such a great circumstance if you wanted to attract clients to your business!

But as absurd as this situation might seem, it's pretty close to reality for many independent professionals. They are rarely seen or noticed by their prospective clients.

If your business is not growing and you need to attract more clients, the very first thing you need to do is gain more visibility.

In my business, my efforts to become visible followed this progression: networking - speaking - keep-in-touch marketing - publishing.

I joined my local Chamber of Commerce, professional groups, and networking clubs and I started to meet a lot of new people, many prospective clients.

Then I contacted organizations and started to give talks on marketing for professionals. I met even more people and added them to my mailing list.

I then mailed a newsletter every other month to those on this list, and I sent postcard mailings inviting people to various introductory marketing events.

In 1997, I transitioned to an email list that reached 50,000 people at its peak. These people received this eZine once a week and I also promoted various

products and services to those on the list. Twenty years later the eZine still goes out weekly.

Finally, I published my InfoGuru Marketing Manual that developed more credibility and led to more clients and participants in my marketing groups.

I may be a lot of things, but one is not being invisible!

The hard truth you have to face is that very few people wake up in the morning with your name on their lips. You cannot remain relatively invisible and expect your business to grow magically.

You need to remedy this with a "Visibility Plan." Here are nine ways to do it:

1. Start slow, with patience. You can't get in front of 50,000 people overnight. Get clear on who your ideal clients are and where you can connect with them.

2. Focus on as many in-person meetings as possible through professional organizations. Really get to know people and their needs.

3. Reach out to make connections with those you've met who could be possible clients or refer you to clients. Real connections are more powerful than virtual connections.

4. With permission, add people to your e-list and send some valuable information at least monthly. This kind of keep-in-touch marketing is essential to stay visible.

5. Set up your website to get opt-ins in return for a report or article. Make it a practice to give away lots of value and demonstrate your expertise.

6. Establish a presence on social media such as Facebook and Linked In. But don't make this your primary visibility method, as it can be hard to stand out in this crowded arena.

7. Submit articles to online publications that your ideal clients visit and read. This is a great way to build credibility to a very targeted audience.

8. Seek out opportunities to give presentations - everything from speaking at professional groups to giving a TED talk. Nothing is more powerful than highlighting your expertise on stage.

9. Publish a book or e-book that establishes your expertise. A book is a powerful door-opener that provides a platform for the services and programs you offer.

I've done all of these things to one degree or another and I've also helped my clients do them as well, with great success.

These are all opportunities to communicate the value of your business and build credibility and trust over the long haul.

Remember, nobody is going to do business with someone who is invisible!

Cheers, Robert

How Can I Do Online Advertising?

Many online businesses start out on a limited spending budget and think they can't manage to pay for advertising. The good news is that there are now many more options to start online advertising than even just a few years ago. Even better, there isn't a sharp learning curve to be able to use them and get a good return on your investment.

Paid ads do cost money, but they're scalable, so when you produce an effective ad, you can increase your spending to show your ads even more, for more traffic and profits.

PPC Networks

PPC stands for Pay Per Click. As the name implies, you only pay if someone clicks on your ad. There main two PPC networks.

Google AdWords

This is the most well-known network. It shows ads on its own search engine results pages and on a range of other sites. Some of the sites are owned by ordinary people who want to make money from their website, so they join the Google AdSense program. The system is challenging to use, however. It's so full-featured, there are courses online to teach you how to use the system.

Bing

Bing, by Microsoft, amalgamated with Yahoo PPC ads a number of years ago in an attempt to compete with Google. Although you might not get as much traffic from Bing as you do from Google, the Bing ad program tends to be less expensive and simpler to use.

Social Media

There are a number of social media sites you can use for online advertising as. Their ad programs are highly targeted, and they're easier to use than Google. The ads are driven more by matching your ads with the interest people have stated or shown through their likes and content they engage with.

Facebook

Facebook ads offer some hard rivalry to Google AdWords because their online advertising rates are less expensive, the system is much easier to use, and the website traffic can be much more highly targeted. You can get the same amount of traffic for pennies on the dollar in comparison with Google once you learn their fairly straightforward system. You need to have a Facebook business page to run ads. And all your ads will have to have an image.

Ad Marketplaces

There are also ad areas like BuySellAds or Chitika where you can connect with various sites who take advertising. The objective here would be to find a substantial website that matches the niche or industry you are working in so you can get "qualified traffic," that is, people most likely to be interested in what you have to sell.

Facebook wants you to succeed using their advertising platform. This just makes sense. If you achieve your business goals while spending money on Facebook advertising, you're likely to use that marketing practice again in the future. An often overlooked traffic source...Press Releases

Most people are continually trying to figure out the latest and greatest traffic strategies...

...but what works for one person is not always going to work for everyone.

You need to not only figure out what works for you, but also what has continued to work over time.

One such traffic strategy (that has stood the test of time) is press release marketing.

You can use press releases in powerful and effective ways to connect with your target audience and create buzz about your upcoming offers, products, or launches.

Press releases are also quite cost-effective and easy to produce, as well as very easy to distribute.

As a matter of fact, the distribution can be automated by hiring press release distribution and circulation outlets and using them to tweak and submit your press releases to all major blogs, content syndication sites, and media outlets.

Imagine that! Your ideal client reads about your services, then comes to you ready to buy!

You can submit your press releases through both paid and free distribution channels.

Therefore, whatever your budget and time constraints, press releases can be extremely vital in positioning your business to get mass exposure.

So if you need a tried, true, and tested traffic strategy, give press releases a try.

Bad Email Marketing Practices to Avoid

Recently, Australian clothing brand YP Threads sent an email that seemed like they were blackmailing customers. In it, they "threatened" to expose incriminating photos of them to the public if they didn't buy from their brand. The email ended with the lines, "We know where you live. Time starts now."

The tactic proved to be a bad judgment call, ending with YP Threads apologizing for the email. Some may argue the strategy raised publicity for YP Threads. In the end, their approach still served as an example of bad marketing practices.

Coming up with an effective strategy can be difficult. Firms specializing in email marketing campaign services would gladly tell you. Marketers sometimes forget what might work isn't always what might be best. It's time to review which email practices you should avoid.

1. Having an extensive list with people who have never heard of your company

Nobody cares about how many people you have on your email list. The point is that you get your message across to the people whom you want to sell to. Having an email list longer than the Great Wall of China doesn't assure you email opens or conversions. It's all about reaching the people who are most likely to care about your business.

Think about it. How many times have you received an email from a company whose services you had no interest in? Maybe it was an email about car repairs, and you don't even have a car.

Trimming down your email list to a fewer number may make you think twice, but it actually guarantees better results. Try it.

2. Making it hard for subscribers to opt-out

They're called "opt out" for a reason. Give your subscribers the choice to refuse being sent future emails, and don't give them a hard time about it! Sometimes email marketers do it to retain subscribers, but that just means you're more likely to be identified as an annoying brand.

It's not personal-it's marketing. While there are people who don't want to hear from you, there are people who still do. Either way, respect people enough to give them the option to unsubscribe.

3. Incorporating spammy content in your emails

Emails that only contain words like "free" or "buy now" aren't exactly timeless. Sure, it works for your CTAs, but when people receive emails, they want to be engaged. Emails are an outlet for you to get creative with content to drive your customers' attention. Your customers are in the 21st century as you are and they're smart enough to get tired of the same word usage.

Give your users quality content. That way, they'll enjoy opening your emails and even look forward to receiving more. US-based makeup brand Glossier sends their customers updates, promos, and even random content that's aligned with their brand personality, such as wallpapers for customers and a photo of a baby goat smiling.

4. Writing misleading subject lines

You could get in trouble for your subject lines. Sometimes, marketers want a quick way to get customers to open their emails, and a way to do that is to engage them through the subject lines.

When marketers have a chance to do this, sometimes they cause panic for their customers. One furniture store emailed their customers a "receipt from the future" with the subject line "Thanks for your order!" as part of their April Fools ' Day campaign. Some of their customers ended up panicking over a false order before realizing it was a marketing ploy.

The last thing you want to do is strip off the trust your customers have with your brand. After all, gaining trust is more important than grabbing their attention. Find other creative ways to engage them with your email campaign.

Sometimes people get caught up in their marketing that they don't realize their methods carry consequences. So whether you're setting up your own strategies or hiring email marketing campaign services, take note of these practices and avoid them.

Is Email Marketing Still Relevant?

The recent introduction of the general data protection regulation (GDPR) has had a direct impact on marketing practices, including email marketing. Is email marketing still one of the most effective marketing tools for your business?

The answer is yes, email marketing is still one of the most effective tools for driving sales in your business, but as with most forms of marketing, it rarely stands still.

Ensure You're Compliant

Personal privacy is a major concern today when it comes to email marketing. So is the way you use the data you collect. Read over your current privacy policy and terms of service for your website to ensure you are up to date.

Mobile-Friendly Emails

Your email should be readable on any device that your subscriber decides to read it on. You can check out how your emails and website look on free tools such as mobiletest.me and responsinator.com to view your content on a range of simulated screens.

Email Rendering

There's a similar problem with the way emails appear in different email services. Check the overall look of your emails at Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Hotmail etc to be sure it doesn't look wrong.

Coding Issues

Some marketers prefer HTML coded emails, while others opt for plain text. Any HTML coding mistakes could ruin the look and feel of the email, or even prevent some or all of it from being seen. Check your code at a site like Dirty Markup and clean any errors.

Check and Test

Be sure to carefully check any email before you send it. Look for typing errors and ensure that the link clicks through to the correct page. Make sure that things like the date and time of an event are correct. People are very busy and don't have time for you to send two or three emails on the same subject, trying to correct basic errors you should have found in the first place.

Send High-Quality Information, Not Just Sales Info

Be certain all your emails are relevant and interesting to your target audience. Do more than just try to sell them stuff, and odds are they will continue being on your list, look forward to your emails and open them, and even forward the emails to other people.

Make It Easy For People To Unsubscribe

If your subscriber makes a decision that they don't want to get any more emails from you, make it possible for them to easily unsubscribe. If you make it difficult, they will start to begrudge your emails and will certainly never buy from you. They may also report you as spam, which will cause you complications in the future.

Email marketing can achieve awesome results for the smart marketer. On average, a prospect needs to see your messages 7 to 8 times before they trust you enough to buy something. Email is the perfect way to deliver these messages with a structured marketing funnel. To learn more, download my free Marketing Funnel Checklist at https://jonallo.com/salesfunnel

What Is Thin Content As Per Google and Why It Is Not Good for SEO?

"Content is the king" in SEO has always been emphasized ever since the technique has come into being and practice. Considering the same, it is easy to conclude that it is a far-fetched idea to conceive to gain better rankings of your business if you do not or cannot write quality, comprehensible and original content based on the keyword(s) that is/are relevant to your website. In this article, we are going to discuss why the need for a quality, original and relevant content is a must to drive a growing mass of target visitors/audience to your website and ensure improved visibility with a better sales lead. Also, the discussion will revolve around the formidable consequences of using thin or low-quality content with respect to SEO and what you can do about it.

So without beating about the bush, let us focus on what thin content exactly is. Thin content fundamentally is, low-quality or substandard content that is not helpful to users anyway. Google has sorted out a few exclusive web pages such as doorway pages, substandard affiliate pages, or standard pages that feature too little or no content, which are thin content pages according to this search engine. However, the caveat to bear in mind importantly and additionally is that efforts should not be made to create a mass of similar content: plagiarized pages or pages with duplicate content are also the cardinal part of thin content pages as well. Furthermore, Google does not give any significance to pages stuffed with keywords either. After all, this directs to the fact that the search engine has become smarter over time and is able to distinguish between high-quality and low-quality content, specifically since the release of Google Panda.

Google has the policy to provide its users with the most favorable and finest results that fit the search criteria of the user. So if you have a business and wish to fly it higher, you have to bring around Google that you give an answer to the question of the target users. Your visions for a website will maybe never turn into a reality if you are reluctant to write enormously on the theme you want it to rank for. Thin content is not the thing for Google when it comes to ensuring the most fruitful results. So the maximum focus should be on creating engaging, quality and informative copy, to make Google as well as your target users happy to their heart's content.

It is highly recommended to create comprehensible and elegant copy about the keywords that you guess would be instrumental in giving a rank to your website in Google. If you are interested in profiling your favorite hobby on your weblog, this is not a hassle for you. Right? If you profile something you have a penchant for and possess copious knowledge about it, then it is very simple for you to convince Google that your pages feature the expert answer they are searching for!

You have thousands of potential clients just visiting these social media sites daily which is why its essential that all companies embrace this and open an account with each site, to ensure that they reach their entire audience in the long run.

"Content is king," a phrase used by all in the SEO industry. You want to always ensure that all the content that you publish online is of the finest quality. It should be relevant to your industry, it should be written to the highest of quality providing interesting and valuable information that potential clients want to know about and that will make them want to know more about your company. This should be whether they re visiting your website, reading your blog or reading an article you published online.

The Key to A Successful Online Business Is in the List

The importance of List Building for online businesses can never be overemphasized!

List building defined:

List building is a marketing process that involves strategic gathering of limitless volume of followers for the sole reason to deliver vital news, messages, products info or events, etc. This ever-growing mailing list is created and developed by end-users who freely opt-in via subscription into an online business marketer's autoresponder facility. Whatever business you do online, you can compel your audience, prospects and clients to be part of your list for several reasons, such as: receiving newsletters, updates, discounts, etc. When you consider list building for your online business, it can be very lucrative and highly effective.

Below are some benefits of building and using a mailing list to help promote your online business:

For Pitching New Products/Services

When you choose to build a list for your business, it is actually people who trust in your products or services that will opt-in. A mailing list offers you the opportunity to market new products or services to potential customers. Whatever it is that you sell online, whether it is new software or some popular electronics, sales are almost guaranteed with your subscribers since they actually willingly opted into your mailing list. Once you are able to deliver effective sales pitch to your subscribers, making good profit becomes forthcoming and certain.

For Offering Exclusive Deals/Offers

When you are in the process of launching special offers, your mailing list will be most convenient to reach out to prospects that will quickly engage with the business. For example, if you sell a service or product at a list-price of $200 on your website you can sell the same service/product at $100 (providing special discount deal purchase link) to people who are subscribed to your mailing list. This can help you make loads of profit - especially if you have a large mailing list of subscribers.

For General Business Updates

When you need to inform your customers of very important product/service update your list will come in handy. Let's assume that your business social networking channel experiences a sudden technical disruption. You can quickly forward an email to your list informing them about the problem at hand.

Also, if you plan on having a live webinar or any event, subscribers on your mailing list would usually be among the first people to find out. With your list, you will be able to send emails at intervals inviting people to attend your live webinar or event.

With so many advantages of building a mailing list for your online business as mentioned above, it is clear that the Key to a successful online business is in the list. Start building your list today!

Personalizing Your Network Marketing Business

If you want to make your business more successful than it is now, you may want to look into personalization techniques. You will find such techniques from places like McDonald's, Burger King, IHOP and Starbucks. Learning personality to add your business is not a bad thing because most people nowadays will not pay attention to generic brands. This doesn't mean you have to be edgy and bold but it can mean you could be gentle and passionate through the words and placement of your content. Read on to learn more about personalization techniques and tactics for your business.

Building your network marketing business, the easy way

when you are building your network marketing business you can do it the easy way or the hard way. The hard way is figuring out who you are and why you do what you do. This can take decades or longer if you choose to focus on the cash flow instead of focusing on attraction and Authority. If you ever went to the store and bought chips or cookies or even a health food item, there's always a catchy slogan somewhere on there. The best examples are Nikes old motto "just do it." This is only icing on the cake though. You have to dig down and show your personality through your specific actions and words in everything you produce.

This could be called branding for your network marketing business. It is preferred to think of it as personalization. This includes color choices, graphic choices, targeting and many other factors. If you choose to leave a signature or motto that also will help brand or personify your business. You may have seen a lot of cartoons and videos online from certain businesses to help reinforce this personal branding by sharing a particular cartoon character. This will also help as well because it sticks in the in the viewers mind. And viewers will remember and relate to this character later on as they surf your website.

The do's and don'ts of personalization for network marketing

Brought up quickly and efficiently, there are only a couple of do's and don'ts for network marketing personalization. Don't make it forced, be natural and allow your personality to show through. Be creative in all areas of it and work with it until you're happy with the results from your marketing effort. Keep your text font readable and large enough for all types of audiences. Do a test run with your project before going completely with it. Run it with a small test group and get feedback and make changes from it. Don't overly spend on advertising cost for it you will lose more than you will gain. Be original and don't steal ideas and have fun with it.

What Is An Online Sales Funnel?

What is a Funnel and How Do They Work?

When the word funnel is mentioned I usually visualize a car with the hood opened and an oil funnel in the picture. I'm not the only one, I know because a number of people have asked me to explain what a marketing funnel is. The subject gets many confused and a bit discouraged but it need not be so.

A marketing funnel is really very simple and some make it more complicated than it needs to be. Actually, the best and most successful funnels have only 3 steps and are very simple. The more steps that are added leave a better chance that the viewer will not finish the process designed to get them to a certain end result.

The end result, or goal, of the funnel, can be a number of things including a sale, an opt-in, a phone call, a sign-up, or lead. These are called conversions and are the end result of the funnel.

A website is a funnel even if someone doesn't understand just what a marketing funnel is. Someone sets up their site with the intentions of drawing traffic to their site for a specific purpose, let's say to purchase a product. They might see an advertisement ad on another site and click on it to get to the someone's site. The visitor reads some of the website content and clicks to go to the next step or to make a purchase.

That's typical of a sales funnel and sounds really simple, right? There are said to be over 2 billion viewers online and any website owner would love to get as much of that traffic coming to their site as possible.

Through various outreach campaigns on social media sites and forums, articles written, podcast, videos made, or a webinar, the site owner draws traffic into the funnel that travels through the website page and a percentage will click to proceed and the rest will move onto something else.

That is how simple a funnel is and as mentioned, the end result or goal can be to get an email address, get the visitor to click something, or to make a purchase, each is considered a conversion.

There are funnels that have more steps depending on what the design of the funnel is for the visitor but the fewer steps get better results.

How do they work?

Think of yourself as a tour guide leading visitors onto and through your website and leading them where you would like them to go and to do what you would like them to do. The site owner tries to direct them to click here or go there and see a great product that will enrich their lives in one way or another.

So website owners are like tour guides on their own websites and it's best that they understand drawing viewers into a funnel, their website, and being a tour guide leading them to the goal, or point of conversion with every page.

The Components and Tools Needed for a Funnel

The very first thing needed for a funnel is an idea. An idea could be for a video, a blog post, podcast, audiobook, a presentation, a free offer, or a webinar.

Another thing that's needed is a desired goal or end result, whether it be a sign-up, a sale or something else. Then figure out how to get the desired end results starting from the idea.

Figure out what you want your site visitors to do. What's the purpose of the site? Determine what your funnels end result is and then you can design the pathway toward the end result.

How To Generate Traffic Using Article Marketing

You have probably heard people say that article marketing is dead.

It isn't!

People, who claim that, have never used article marketing the right way, you see.

They have been doing "article directory marketing", which is sending lots of traffic to the article directories, instead of to their own site or blog.

So forget about the Google Panda scare.

Here's how you can generate traffic using article marketing:

1: Write longer articles - aim at 600 - 1200 words.

2: Give it your best - fill the article with valuable content.

If you struggle with writing 400 words in an article at this point, you might ask:

"How in the world will I ever arrive at 600 words? Or more?"

Crazy, right?

You'll be surprised how easy it is, though, when you start out with a different aim - giving the best quality, you can.

If your goal was to produce articles, which would make your readers click at the link in your resource box and buy the product, you were promoting, yes, then it's hard to write small 400 word articles.

With a different point of view, you'll be amazed to find yourself plotting out long, content rich articles in no time.

At this moment, you might be wondering:

"Why? Why should I write longer articles and give away valuable content?"

To understand the answer, you have to go back to the basic definition of an article directory.

Article directories are here - not just to show your article and make money themselves through ads - but to be a middleman between writers and ezine owners.

In other words: Your goal with your articles should be to get them syndicated.

If ONE big list owner picks up your article, you can look forward to thousands of incoming readers.

Believe me, this is much better than earning a click now and then, directly from the article directory.

The really successful article marketers all agree on this one:

The best way to generate traffic using article marketing is to write with the sole goal of getting your article picked up and syndicated.

How to get Traffic to your Website

In this post we'll discuss different traffic methods
that you can put into action in your business to
attract visitors to your websites.  Building a
business online without traffic will result in no
sales and something you want to avoid.

Generating traffic is a thing you should master.
This is because it’s the one thing that will help you
make sales and generate revenue. Let’s discuss 3
traffic generation methods that you can implement
in your business.

Article Marketing

Driving traffic to your blog with the help of article
marketing is a powerful thing that can make or break
your business. The best approach to article marketing
is by writing a killer article that has a minimum word
count of 500 and make sure to post it in your blog for
search engine traffic. The best way to distribute your
content to blog networks is by using article marketing
software such as:

a. Uniquearticlewizard.com
b. Seolinkvine.com
c. Submityourarticle.com

Social Media

Attracting traffic with social sites is a powerful strategy
that can uplift your traffic and link count from the major
social sites. The best social sites are:

a. Digg.com
b. Twitter.com
c. Stumbleupon.com
d. Facebook.com

In order to win this game you need to submit high
quality posts that will attract traffic and generate
leads for your business.

Press Releases

This method of submitting press release to
major news sites is also a powerful strategy
that can propel your business to the next level.

In fact Google really gives weight to authority
sites such as news sites. The best tool to use is
PRWEB.COM and Bizwire.com. These two major
sites can have a big impact towards your business.

That is just a few ideas of traffic methods
that you should employ in your business. I recommend
you try them out and see which methods work for you,
then stick with them and addon other traffic methods as
you go.
